Sonya became Chief Executive in 2012. Previously a social worker, Sonya is passionate about reducing inequalities and has worked in a number of charity leadership roles including with Barnardo’s. Sonya’s youngest son was diagnosed with M.E. a year after she became CEO.

Charles Shepherd
MEDICAL ADVISOR TO THE ME ASSOCIATION
Charles Shepherd is a physician with longstanding personal experience of ME, which followed a chickenpox infection.
He is medical adviser to the ME Association – where he provides medical information to people with ME and to health professionals, supervises their research funding work, chairs the ME Biobank Steering Group and assists the All Party Parliamentary Group on ME at Westminster.
