Sonya became Chief Executive in 2012. Previously a social worker, Sonya is passionate about reducing inequalities and has worked in a number of charity leadership roles including with Barnardo’s. Sonya’s youngest son was diagnosed with M.E. a year after she became CEO.

MRC Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology

The CMRC was established in 2013 and Stephen has brought together several respected researchers with patient representatives and, together, they have successfully won more than £2 million for the genome project – DecodeME.
