We’re excited to announce our new patron – Baroness Lowe of Armley.
A few words Baroness Lowe wanted to share with you:
Today marks Severe ME Day—a time to recognise the thousands of people missing from our communities due to severe myalgic encephalomyelitis. People living with severe ME spend years, decades and lifetimes confined to bed in darkened rooms. They are often unable to tolerate light, speak, or swallow food. They face disbelief, a lack of support, and insufficient or absent medical care. As a patron of Forward ME, I want you to know we see your daily reality and will raise our voices where you cannot. We will keep pressing for robust biomedical research and accurate medical education to ensure you get the clinical care you need and deserve. We will also challenge stigma and misinformation related to ME. Although some things have improved for people with ME more generally, these benefits often do not filter through to people with the severest form of this disease. It’s for this reason that we must continue to push for change.
